Ace Combat 7 takes to the DLC skies for 25th anniversary

Believe it or not, it’s been 25 years of BANDAI Namco’s Ace Combat series. To celebrate, the company is launching a special 25th anniversary DLC pack.

Aces

It’s almost hard to believe that Ace Combat has been around for as long as it has. Originally releasing on the PSOne waaaaay back in 1995, Ace Combat has somehow maintained a fanbase and steady release schedule. That’s really something for a flight sim, arcade or no. How many other games from this genre have the kind of longevity that Ace enjoys? I can’t think of one.

So to celebrate the momentous occasion, BANDAI Namco has prepped a special selection of DLC. The new downloadables include planes, weaponry, skins, and emblems.

  1. CFA-44 “Nosferatu”
    1. ADMM: All Direction Multi-Purpose Missile
    2. EML: Electromagnetic Launcher
    3. IEWS: Integrated Electronic Warfare System
  1. XFA-27
    1. SOD: Stand-Off Dispenser
    2. MSTM: Multiple-Launch Standard Missile
    3. IEWS: Integrated Electronic Warfare System
  1. ASF-X “Shinden II”
    1. RKT: Rocket Launcher
    2. LASM: Long-Range Air-to-Ship Missile
    3. 6AAM: 6 Target Air-to-Air Missile

And here’s a look at it all in action:

Ace Combat 7: 25th Anniversary DLC is available right now for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game. It’s priced in at $12.49 USD as a package, but you can also pick up just the planes if you prefer. Those are $4.99 USD each as a separate purchase.

One last note too, is that there’s now a “Casual-Easy difficulty level”. That’s designed to get more players into the game, and is a free download.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
