Horizon Zero Dawn comic coming up from Titan

Titan Comics is set to fill in the world of Horizon Zero Dawn just a little bit more. A new comic book series, starting hero Aloy, is on the way.

Comic Zero Dawn

One of the PS4’s best loved titles, Horizon Zero Dawn first debuted in 2017. The game, from developer Guerrilla, saw a future Earth ruled by mechanical beasts. Humanity was knocked back to a tribal nature, and struggled to survive alongside them.

The story focused on a young woman named Aloy. She embarked on a quest to answer not only her own origins, but also that of the world she inhabited. With stellar graphics and a unique storyline, HZD still has a solid fan following. And that’s good since it’s about to spawn its first sequel.

Now you can add ‘comic book series’ too, with a book heading to stands from Titan Comics.

Titan’s new comic book series – co-created by Anne Toole, one of the writers of Horizon Zero Dawn, with artwork by fan-favorite artist Ann Maulina – takes place after the events of the game as Talanah, a strong and determined hunter, struggles to find purpose after her trusted friend Aloy disappears. When a mysterious threat emerges in the wilds, she sets out to hunt and to defeat it, only to learn that a whole new breed of killer machines stalk the land!

The first issue of the book will star some serious talent on its covers. Titan has announced that you can expect to see variants from Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, Loish, Peach Momoko, and others. Expect that to be available on July 22nd.

And a freebie too. Eventually

While the event itself has been delayed (due to the pandemic), there will also be a Free Comic Book Day one-shot hitting. That one will be a prequel to the main comic. Just when it’ll hit though, is anyone’s guess since FCBD has been only targeted as happening some time this summer.

“Fans are going to absolutely love the stories we have to tell of Talanah and Aloy as we expand the Horizon Zero Dawn universe in this new comic series. I’m really excited to see their reaction when this explosive new story arrives.”
