Mignola and Hughes prep holiday Hellboy ghost story

There’s a special Hellboy story making its way to comic shops this Holiday Season, and it centers on the Victorian tradition of Christmas ghost stories.

The ghost of Christmas past

If you enjoyed Hellboy: Krampusnacht, then you might very much enjoy what Dark Horse Comics is cooking up for Christmas 2019. This Holiday Season will see a brand new Hellboy tale entitled Hellboy & the B.P.R.D.: The Seven Wives Club.

By Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and legendary artist Adam Hughs, The Seven Wives Club is set in Savannah, GA. It centers on a young girl, an abandoned medical school, and a murder long forgotten.

“The Victorians used to read and tell ghost stories during the Christmas season,” said Mignola. “We might not be reading by candlelight these days, but I do like a good ghost story during the holiday season, especially when there are stolen cadavers, vengeful spirits, and art by Adam Hughes.”

“I’m dead thrilled to be collaborating with Mike again and flabbergasted as always that anyone wants to work with me twice,” said Adam Hughes. “This one’s so spooky, I’m only drawing it during the daytime.”

Hellboy press release

While Hughs will be handling the interiors, you’d best believe he’s also doing a cover illustration. He’s not the only one though, as Mignola will be providing a variant.

Watch for Hellboy & the B.P.R.D.: The Seven Wives Club to hit stands and digital storefronts on December 11th.
