Nintendo preparing Indie World Showcase for Monday

Ramping up into the oncoming holiday season, Nintendo is readying a special look at the independent games hitting the Switch.

Nindie time

So are we done with “Nindies”? It kind of seems like we are and that Nintendo is tossing its once popular (?) term for independent games on the Switch. If you haven’t been paying attention to the admittedly minor detail, this is the second time that they’ve held an event and not used it. So I guess the answer is yes? Whether or not that’s a good thing is up to you.

What’s most definitely a good thing is that Nintendo has a Direct presentation waiting in the wings to talk about them. Indie games have been a very welcome and very big part of the Switch’s library. It’s great to see that the company will be focusing once again on them heading into the Holidays.

As usual the announcement is bare-bones, so there’s no exposition as to what’ll actually be included in the show. It’s going to be kind of a long presentation too. Nintendo says that it’ll be clocking in at around 20 minutes, so there’s going to be plenty to reveal.

Tune in Monday, Aug. 19, at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET for a new livestreamed Indie World video presentation, featuring roughly 20 minutes of information about indie games coming to Nintendo Switch!
