Rage 2 ups the post-apocalyptic ante, shows off world in new trailer

Rage is back, and it’s pretty different than the last time we saw it. Bethesda’s FPS series is getting bigger, louder, and more Fury Road-ish.

Rising Rage

I actually liked the original Rage a lot, but this new take looks even better. It’s more colorful, generally crazier, and has some nods to Mad Max: Fury Road that I really dig. Aside form all that, it’s also got some truly impressive action, and some nifty new super-powers to play with.

Dancing?

As you can see, there’s a lot going on in Rage 2. It certainly seems like Bethesda and iD have taken the soft reboot road with the series, which is pretty easy to do since there was only one previous installment. A lot is similar to that game, but so much is different.

Chiefly among the new elements is the tone, which is way crazier. And that plays into all the different ‘zones’ that seem to exist in the world now. Each one looks pretty different too, and there’s even a city to play in. That’s very different than last time around.

There are also air vehicles, monster trucks, and something called Mutant Bash TV. Presumably that’ll be an ongoing side-thing that you’ll be able to partake in.

Along with all the new info and a new look at the action, fans also got a release date. Rage 2 will hit on May 14, 2019 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
