Marvel launches “Decades Collection” for 2019

Marvel Comics is going back to the past for a series of collections that will span the Decades, exploring the publisher’s vast history in 2019.

Back in time

“After almost 80 years, our fans have continued to embrace Marvel’s characters as their own, following their adventures through decades of thrilling stories,” said Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski. “To honor and celebrate this legacy, we can’t wait to share some new and exciting projects for the world to experience the history of the Marvel Universe – through comic books, video games, toys, blockbuster films, television shows and more.”

These actually sound pretty cool, which I’m kind of shocked by. I like the idea of breaking things up by decade too. There are a ton of books out there that encompass everything after all. And it’s kind of cool that this series lets fans pick and choose instead. I’m excited to pick up the eventual 80s and 90s volumes.

In all, the series will run the 40s through the 2010’s. It will include the biggest moments from some of the biggest heroes of the Marvel U. Expect to see lots of “Human Torch, Captain America, Spider-Man, and more!” Full stories will be included in these issues, as well as “a decade-by-decade commentary chronicling the evolution of the Marvel Universe and the world that inspired it.” Neat stuff.

Look for the Decades Collection to kick off this January.
