Venom #1 (Comics) Preview

Now don’t get too upset – though this Venom issue is a “number one”, it’s actually not. A part of Fresh Start, Marvel is going with a dual numbing system for it’s restarted lineup. So yes, this is a #1, but it’s also got the Legacy numbering intact. Oh, and it kind of looks awesome too.

“Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be rolling out new beginnings for a few of our key franchises—new creative teams, new starting points, new storylines—all the big stuff that we’ve been building towards since LEGACY began,” said SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “This isn’t a clearing of the slate—while these new starts will kick off with new #1s, we’ll be maintaining the classic LEGACY issue counts as dual numbering on these titles as well. Oh, and don’t read anything into not seeing a character on the Jim Cheung piece…we can only squeeze so many characters onto there without killing poor Jim!”

Yes, I know that’s not the usual preview-type text that we run. There’s nothing in there about the story that’ll be rolling out in Venom #1. And guess what? We have no idea what it is either! From the preview pages seen in the gallery below though, it seems pretty interesting.

That’s Eddie, so that’s good, and he’s definitely still Venom from the looks of things. But he’s battling some kind of… vikings? Could he be in Asgard? Who knows, but it’s very nice indeed that that Legacy numbering isn’t going away. I was under the impression that it was, so I’m really pumped for that. That probably sounds super-nerdy, but I love it. I also love that Stegman art, that’s some awesome stuff.

Check it out in the preview below. Venom #1 (again, kind of) lands this May from Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman.

Update: Oh look, preview text. Enjoy
