Meet Cable in the first full Deadpool 2 trailer

One of the most popular X-characters of all time, Cable takes the central role in this first full trailer for Fox’ Deadpool sequel.

Missing the Super Bowl by a few days, Fox dropped the above trailer for Deadpool 2 this morning. It hits all the right notes for the young franchise too. There’s plenty of Deadpool humor, and a good look at actor Josh Brolin’s Cable. Fans have been waiting for that in particular.

A warrior from the far future, Cable’s origin in the comics is just the tiniest bit convoluted. He’s a cyborg, who’s body has been ravaged by a techno-organic virus. He’s also a super-powerful psychic/telekinetic, the son of the X-Men’s Cyclops and Jean Grey (sort of). The kick is that it takes almost all of his TK ability to keep the virus in check. Meaning that he’s limited in offensive ability, hence the guns.

Just how much of that Deadpool 2 will manage to work in is anyone’s guess. But I think it’s fair to say that the backstory for him will be considerably “streamlined”. Honestly, I would have liked to have seen Cable in a movie of his own first, before any sort of a team-up film, but what are you gonna do.

Deadpool 2 will be the character’s debut, and you can check it out on the big screen as of May the 18th.
