ARK: Survival Evolved PS4 Release Announced

ARK: Survival Evolved is coming to the PS4

ARK: Survival Evolved has been a very odd case of Early Access for awhile now. Early Access has, sadly, obtained a reputation for being a dumping ground for half-finished games. A reputation that is far from baseless. Despite this, ARK: Survival Evolved managed to maintain a level of quality, and is generally considered to be well put together. It did, however, earn the ire of many fans when it received a DLC pack.  Even though it was still in Early Access. The DLC, Scorched Earth, was actually considered to be quite good by many fans, but still attracted controversy. Said controversy is unlikely to stop anytime soon, as a PS4 version of ARK: Survival Evolved has been announced.

Despite the game still being unfinished, something flat out acknowledged by Studio Wildcard, the PS4 version will be released next week. Both the base game of ARK: Survival Evolved and Scorched Earth will be bundled together. The American bundle will be $54.99 and the European bundle will be €49.99. Both version are slightly more expansion than on Steam. European gamers will be able to buy these products separately, but North American gamers will not. For unexplained reasons, they will only be able to do it in come spring.

Studio Wildcard has acknowledged the unfinished status of ARK: Survival Evolved , claiming that it will not be a “final product” until spring of 2017. They have claimed that the game will be regularly updated, but I can’t help but be concerned. The PS4 doesn’t have an Early Access program, and buyers will expect a full time. Even if ARK: Survival Evolved is finely crafted, this isn’t the time for a PS4 release. Not under these circumstances.
