Tom Cruise’s latest action film series continues with Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.
Maybe I’m alone here, but I thought the first Reacher film was some really great fun. There was plenty of action, a solid (if somewhat unspectacular) plot, and a likable main character in Cruise’s semi-commando, semi-superhero Jack Reacher. It might not have set the box office on fire, but overall I dug it. It reminded me of a lot of action films from the 90s, which is a good thing in my book.
I have no reason to doubt that the sequel will be just as good… actually, maybe better, since there sure does seem to be a lot more fightin’ and gunplay in it. That’s hard to tell from the trailer of course, but that’s my first impression.
At any rate, I’m a fan of Cruise’s action efforts, so I’ll probably see this one in the theaters. He’s been terrific in films like Minority Report (one of my all-time faves) and Edge of Tomorrow after all. And the Mission: Impossible movies are grossly underrated as an action series in my opinion.
Still a little ways to go till release, Paramount’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back hits theaters on October 16th, 2016.
