Billed as “three games in one”, Call of Duty: Black Ops III is one of the biggest and most sci-fi CoD’s ever.
Activision is talking about Black Ops III as three games in one, and I can’t really find much fault in that argument as of yet. When you think about it, the games in the franchise have really started to branch out, even though they ship as one cohesive package.
You’ve got your campaign mode, which in this case looks to be the most high-tech and futuristic narrative ever included in a Call of Duty game. Then you’ve got the multiplayer, which is a game unto itself, loaded with stuff to do, stats to rack up and players who buy in for it alone. And finally, there’s the zombies mode, which is getting more and more story-driven and includes some of the biggest fan-favorite genre stars in Hollywood.
Kind of awesome if you’re into all of the above.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the ultimate 3-games-in-1 experience. In Campaign mode, you must navigate the hot spots of a new Cold War to find your missing brothers. Players can play the campaign cooperatively or solo and are now always connected to the intelligence grid and their fellow operatives during battle. Multiplayer features a new momentum-based chained movement system, allowing players to fluidly move through the environment with finesse, using controlled thrust jumps, slides, and mantling. Black Ops III multiplayer also introduces the new Specialist character system, which allows players to master 9 characters’ battle-hardened weapons and abilities through a challenge-based unlock progression system. No Treyarch title would be complete without its signature Zombies offering. “Shadows of Evil” has its own distinct storyline right out of the box, set in the fictional 1940s Morg City, where four particularly troubled individuals – the femme fatale, the magician, the detective, and the boxer – star in this film-noir inspired horror story.
This being the official ‘launch trailer’, you probably already figured on the game being close, and it is. Call of Duty: Black Ops III hits the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as the PC, on November 6th. The title will also be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3, but in a paired-down form, with only the multiplayer components being playable.
