Warner Bros announces new slate of LEGO titles, Jurassic World and Marvel’s Avengers among them

A few more LEGO games are headed to consoles and mobile platforms in 2015, including some of the biggest movie characters of the upcoming year.

“The LEGO videogame franchise remains a cornerstone of our business, consistently delivering fun, engaging gameplay and remarkable humour both kids and adults love,” said David Haddad, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “We look forward to expanding the successful series with this very exciting line-up of new LEGO experiences for players of all ages to enjoy on console, handheld and mobile gaming devices.”

“This year will be the biggest yet for LEGO videogames with these incredible titles and several firsts for the series,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “TT Games are crafting humorous LEGO adventures, based on new stories and characters across some of the most well-known and iconic worlds.”

It’s easy to see that LEGO is indeed extremely important to Warner Bros, as they and developer Traveller’s Tales, just keep on pumping out the titles. Maybe the most interesting thing about the whole franchise is that, while all the games that make up the line are extremely similar, they still find a way to make them fun and enjoyable to play through. I suppose half that is the incredible amount of top-shelf licenses that they have to work with though.

Case in point- 2015 will bring about Jurassic World (which was teased in the LEGO Batman 3 credits), LEGO Marvel’s Avengers (which will follow the events of the Age of Ultron movie, even though it’s not in the title), and LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin, which is the sole ‘in-house’ LEGO property that will get a game this year. That’s not all though, as LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham will be coming to mobile platforms with an iOS version, and The LEGO Movie Video Game is actually available right now on the Apple App Store.
