Spoiler Alert- Batman: Arkham Knight Collector’s Edition may give away key plot point

Polygon is reporting that the statue included in with the collector’s edition of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight gives away a massive plot point. But it might just be a little too soon to jump to conclusions.

Okay, so, SPOILER ALERT.

Still here? Okay, well it looks like the statue that’s included in with the forthcoming final game in the Arkham series of Batman games from developer Rocksteady may have just given away a pretty big piece of info about the game’s story. It’s just what this little nugget of info means that’s up in the air, so don’t get too upset just yet hardcore Bat-fans.

The included piece is a statue that depicts Batman standing over Gotham City. At the base is an inscription (that wasn’t included on mock-ups till now) that shows a bat-symbol and reads “From a grateful city, in memory of the Gotham Knight.” Now, this could mean a few things here. It could, as Polygon writer Michael McWhertor guesses, mean that Rocksteady is planning on killing off or having Batman retire at the end of Arkham Knight (a’la The Dark Knight Rises).

There’s a few things wrong with that though. Chief among them is that, while it certainly could be the case, it’s not too likely that Warners would give away the ending of the game in a bonus item that fans are likely to see before they even pop the disc into their console or PC. Secondly, it sort of looks like Batman has been relatively inactive since Arkham City, so that might be where the statue comes in. He did, after all, defeat a whole mess of bad guys  in that game and basically overturn a corrupt prison that was in the heart of the city.

And then there’s the most likely reason of all- that Warner Bros will more than likely want to make a whole lot more Batman games with the Arkham branding and taking place in this particular translation of the DC Universe. It has proven massively popular you know.

Whatever the campaign holds for the Dark Knight, the game is set to hit retail on June 2nd for the Xbox One, PS4, and the PC- collector’s edition included. Hit the link below to have a peek at the statue and the complete contents of the CE.
