The first look at Legendary Pictures new take on the re-opened Jurassic Park franchise is finally here.
Pretty gold-looking stuff there, and I love the throwback nods to the original film in the series. Lots of cool scene-by-scene updates from the more standout moments from the original, that hit theaters in the 90s. After two so-so sequels, Jurassic World kind of needs that, a little of the old-fashioned magic.
Of course, it’s also got it-star of the moment Chris Pratt, who looks to be playing a way more mature character here than in his turn as Peter Quill, Star Lord in Marvel’s late-Summer blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy. As for the narrative in Jurassic World, that’s kind of a throwback to the original as well, just with two big changes. With the park actually open and operating, there’s way more chance for danger here, and with that mutant dino on the loose, a chance for a more horror-y vibe as it stalks the island’s human inhabitants.
I’ve always loved Jurassic Park, so I’ll be crossing my fingers as hard as I can for Jurassic World, which hits theaters on June 12th, 2015.
