SDCC 2014: comiXology preps giveaways, signings, panels and more

The Amazon-owned digital publishing platform is set for a big showing at this year’s Comic Con in San Diego. Update: New times and corrections as well as the addition of Mike S. Miller, who’ll be signing alongside George R.R. Martin.

$10,000 worth of $5 Amazon Appstore credits and a series of ‘art cards’ will be available for free at the comiXology booth along with the chance to win a “handful” of Kindle Fire HD and HDX devices.

To take home one of the credits to the Appstore, all you need to do is get to the booth before comiXology runs out each day of the show. That’s the easy one. The art cards are also on the house, but you’ll have to stop by when the corresponding creator/artist/writer for whatever property you’re looking for is present.

These limited edition art cards will be signed and handed out free during appearances at the comiXology booth by Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets), Christopher Sebela and Ibrahim Moustafa (High Crimes), Ted Naifeh and Joëlle Jones (Princess Ugg), Coleman Engle and Jeremy Sorese (Steven Universe), John Barber and Tom Scioli (Transformers vs G.I. Joe), Ray Fawkes (The People Inside), Royden Lepp (Rust) and Kazu Kibuishi (Amulet).

Also notable is that George RR Martin himself (of Game of Thrones fame) will be present for the show and will be signing at the comiXology booth. The author will be appearing at 12:30pm on Sunday the 27th and will be signing copies of his Game of Thrones graphic novels The Hedge Knight: The Graphic Novel and The Sworn Sword: The Graphic Novel, both of which are published by Jet City Comics.

As for those Kindle giveaways, you’ll have to be present at one of the company’s panel presentations to take part in those as one device will be given away at each one. The panels are pretty awesome too, and the more you attend, the better a chance that you’ll actually nab one of the Kindles.

When you’re done checking out all that, you can ‘comic book yourself’ right in the comiXology booth. Basically, comiXology will snap a pic of you and add it into a comic book panel. At that point, you can select which word balloon you’d like and then share it on social media with the hashtag #comicbookurself.

Lots to do and lots to take home this year at SDCC from comiXology with easily the biggest display the company has ever put forth. Catch it all in the panel rooms and at booth #2547 on the show floor.
