Well actually all of the trailers (and the game itself) are post-apocalyptic since that’s when the down on his luck PI’s adventures take place.
Shown off here in trailer #3 are some of the 3D rendered environments that you’ll see in the game. Oh, and just in case you’re wondering- yes, it’s full motion video and yes it’s supposed to look like that. The action in Tex titles has always been presented in FMV with live actors playing the parts instead of animated characters. It’s just part of the series’… charm.
Taking place in 2040’s San Francisco, Tex Murphy games have a post-nuclear apocalypse feel to them and center on the title character who’s “an honest and good-natured private investigator with a penchant for bourbon, cigarettes and getting himself into trouble”. They’re also tons of fun and were some of the (legitimately) best graphic adventures to appear on the PC back in the genre’s heyday of the 1990’s.
Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure will pick up right from the end of the last game in the series, Tex Murphy: Overseer (which was released in 1998) when it debuts for the PC in early 2014. While you’ll have to wait another bit for the game though, the website is live right now and is loaded with wallpapers that should make fans glow with Holiday cheer. Or nuclear radiation. Either way.
