Telltale’s definitive The Walking Dead up for pre-order

You probably never thought you’d see “Telltale” and “The Walking Dead” together again. And yet, here we are, and there’s a pre-order to talk about.

Telltale’s dead… live?

Well, the answer to that heading is both yes and no. Yes, it’s true that The Walking Dead is no longer among us as a series. For that matter though, neither is Telltale Games, which was shuttered quite infamously during the final season of the aforementioned adventure series.

Eventually fans got the rest of that last season of TWD though. But again, that was it for it, with nothing else planned for the series coming along. Even though that’s still true, there’s actually one more thing – The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series.

Published by Skybound Games for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC, the new edition of the series will contain everything that Telltale crafted as goes the license. Yes, everything.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series contains all four seasons of the series, along with The Walking Dead: Michonne, the “400 Days” DLC, and several digital bonuses. There are over 50 hours of gameplay across 23 unique episodes, more than 10 hours of developer commentary, behind-the-scenes bonus features including concept and character art galleries, a “Return of The Walking Dead” documentary short, faithful recreations of classic menus, and a music player with over 40 musical tracks. The collection also includes the application across all seasons and content of “graphic black,” an art style that pays homage to The Walking Dead comics and was previously only available for THE FINAL SEASON.

Platform-specific announcements

PS4 gamers who buy the Definitive Edition digitally will get a dashboard dynamic theme as a bonus. And while the Switch won’t be getting the mega pack described above at all, there will be some TWD goodness on Nintendo’s console as well.

Switch gamers will be able to download both The Walking Dead: Season Two and The Walking Dead: A New Frontier via the eShop. While it doesn’t sound like they’ll be as overhauled as the other platforms versions, the Switch editions of these two titles will have some improvements. Skybound says that fans can expect “new graphic black enhancements and many other improvements individually.”

Whatever way you pick to play, all of the above will be landing on the same day, September 10th.
