The original Onimusha returns for modern consoles with a re-release

Capcom’s got more than a few forgotten series’, but now one of those is finally returning. It might be just a re-release, but it’s great to see Onimusha again.

Warlords…

So, first, I’m biased here. I loved the Onimusha series to death, and I’ve wanted nothing more than to see it return for the modern crop of consoles. Well, it looks like I got my wish… kind of.

As you can see, Onimusha: Warlords is pretty much a straight re-release. It’s a little disappointing that this isn’t a game in the mold of the Resident Evil 2 remake. That’s not to say that it’s completely the same as the original that appeared on the PS2 though. It does have some upgrades.

Onimusha will sport some upgraded high-def graphics, as well as “widescreen display option, analog stick support, a readily available Easy Mode option, and new soundtrack.” Not bad. Also not bad are the platforms that this game is set to appear on.

Not just set for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC, Onimusha: Warlords will also be coming to the Switch. That’s right, portable demon-slaying. What’s better? The game will be available digitally for $19.99 USD, and is scheduled for release this coming January.

If you prefer a physical version, that’s on the way too, though it’ll be exclusive to the PS4 and Xbox One.
