Steam Winter Sale goes into first weekend

This one kindd of slipped by us here at BG, but the Steam Winter Sale is officially live and running.

The current edition of the Steam sale is a little different than past incarnations. You will recognize the categories though, with Featured Deals, Flash Sales, a community’s choice sale, and the sales from the previous period’s Featured Deals. All that’s pretty typical.

What’s different are the times that all these deal are in effect. The Featured Deals now change every 2 days, while the flash sales change a little quicker than that (but not every few hours as you might be used to), and the Community’s Choice voting closes with a new selection of sales every 24 hours.

I’m not sure why the extended periods on these, but they certainly do give gamers more time to figure out if they really want something or not, so that’s a good thing in any event. Right now, there are some decent sales posted too, so you might want to click over and check them out. Rage for $4.99, Mass Effect 23 for $4.99, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter for $11.99, and Metro 2033: Redux for $12.99 all are solid and worth your time.

The Steam Winter Sale runs through January 2nd, 2015.
