Jaxxon is back in Marvel’s new Star Wars comics… sort of

Looks like Jar Jar has some competition.

“We couldn’t be happier to have Star Wars comics back at Marvel,” says Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel. “Star Wars has always been an important part of Marvel’s history and we knew we wanted to honor that legacy with a callback to the original Marvel Comics Star Wars series. We think old and new fans alike will be just as excited as we are to see Jaxxon, even if it’s only for this fun variant cover.”

That’s right, although Jaxxon is on this special edition cover, he won’t be appearing in Marvel’s actual monthly Star Wars books. Well, anytime soon anyway.

Star Wars #1 is the first comic to come out of the new deal, that brings Star Wars home to it’s own (now) parent company of Disney’s house, which Marvel is a part. The book comes from the talented team of Jason Aaron, John Cassaday and Laura Martin and will continue the action of the original trilogy of films, including the cast that we all know and love.

This special edition cover (crafted by artist  John Tyler Christopher) though, will be a little tougher to get your hands on than the standard book. Called the Star Wars #1 Party Variant, this edition of the comic will only be available at Star Wars launch parties. So with that in mind, you might want to query your local comics shop and make sure they’re having one.

Star Wars #1 (in all it’s forms) is on the way to stores this coming January.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
