Super Mario Maker looks like the greatest Mario game ever… and then some

I can’t help it, I’m completely fanboy-ing out over Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker.

Sort of like some Nintendo Cereal System-induced fever dream, Super Mario Maker basically encapsulates everything I’ve ever hoped for as a Mario (and Nintendo) fan. Well, I hope it does anyway, I obviously haven’t played it just yet.

Still, it’d have to be a debacle of epic proportions for the game to fall apart at this stage, as everything looks just about perfect and the game hits the Wii U on the 11th of next month. I was basically sold on this one back when I thought you could only make levels for the original Super Mario Bros by the way, and the fact that you can then shade those levels in whichever Mario ‘era’ you want has me giddy.

And then there’s the Amiibo functionality, which re-skins Mario in the guise of whichever Amiibo (50+ are compatible) that you choose. That combined with the ability to download levels made by others, makes this a pretty much never-ending party for fans of the man with the ‘stache.

I might not be seen for a while after this game hits. Just sayin’.
