Spidey renews his vows in the Warzones of Secret Wars

A look into an alternate history for Peter Parker sees one that’s a little happier, but still brought with danger.

Father. Husband. Hero. The Amazing Spider-Man isn’t safe from the Secret Wars – and neither are you! Today, Marvel is pleased to present your first look at AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS #1, from blockbuster creators Dan Slott and Adam Kubert! Trust us, you have to read this to believe it! Prepare for the next evolutionary step in Peter Parker’s life as the Parker family faces Battleworld…together. Peter, Mary Jane and their daughter may not have much, but they have each other. Even as his city is torn asunder by a mysterious new villain, the safety of Peter’s wife and daughter comes first. But who is this mysterious “Regent” who has claimed the lives of so many heroes? How long till Spider-Man and his family are in his crosshairs? This is the story you’ve been waiting for. No fan can afford to miss the seismic AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS #1 when it explodes into comic shops this June!

Renew Your Vows reminds me a lot of the classic Spider-Man continuity, before the One More Day storyline and Civil War arcs. With the addition of their daughter, it’s pretty much a continuation of the Spider-Man storyline that I was used to from the 80s and 90s, which was the one that I really liked.

Pete’s just an average guy after all, even with the spider-powers that allow him to become a superhero, he still has family responsibilities that pretty much everybody can relate to. That’s one of the reasons that I liked the characters so much (and still do), thought it’s one of the elements that Marvel has gotten away from in the last few years. Frankly, it’s good to see it back, if only in a small way.

Coming from the team of Dan Slott and Adam Kubert, Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #1 hits the stands on June 3rd.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
