Twitter kills game-tweeting, apparently hates fun

Well that didn’t last too long. It looks like Twitter has closed out the whole Tweeting game thing.

Last week we told you that game fans had found a way to use Twitter to tweet the DOS games that are featured on the Internet Archive. Well, even though those games are out there in the public domain and free to play on the IA website, it looks like Twitter has killed off the ability for it to post them for you to play.

The reason is pretty simple, and apparently one that everybody missed- it’s against their policy. The Verge is reporting that Twitter strictly prohibits the creation of games, or posting anything like them in a Tweet. So… that’s that then. It was fun while it lasted anyway.

And to ease your Twitter game withdrawal, you could always just click on over to the Archive and lose yourself for a few hours.
