Mortal Kombat X goes to Camp Crystal Lake as Jason joins the cast

Chu-chu-chu-chu, ah-ah-ah-ah – Jason follows in the footsteps of Freddy and joins the Mortal Kombat universe.

NetherRealm has some kind of magic with licensing, don’t they? The last release in the series, simply called Mortal Kombat, featured Freddy Kreuger as a piece of downloadable content. Now with MKX, which is due next month, Jason Voorhees will be available in the same way.

There isn’t much to go on with that teaser above, but Jason is basically a tank. In the Friday the 13th movies, he doesn’t move all that quickly and he’s got devastating strength, so it should be interesting to see if that translates into the Mortal Kombat universe well.

Jason will be available as a part of the Season Pass, which is called the Kombat Pack, for MKX. The Pack, which also has two classic Kombatants and a newcomer, will also be included as a part of the Mortal Kombat X Premium Edition in the UK.

If you do buy in for the pack, you’ll also be getting some extra looks for some of the biggest characters in the game, including “Ronin Kenshi, Samurai Shinnok and Jingu Kitana, as well as an accompanying skin pack with each playable character.” As a nice little bonus too, buyers of the Kombat Pack will get first dibs on future DLC as it’s released. No idea what kind of an exclusivity timetable that grants you, but anything’s kind of nice really.

Mortal Kombat X hits the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 14th, with PS3 and Xbox 360 versions arriving a bit later.
