Something of subscription plan is coming up for Nintendo Amiibo figure fans, thanks to the gaming giant and Loot Crate.
If you’re not familiar with Loot Crate, it’s basically a subscription service that sends you boxes of really cool (and sometimes random) stuff. It’s a neat idea in that it’s almost like a grab bag of sorts, you really don’t know what’s coming up and what they’ll be stocking in their ‘crates’, till it’s announced. They also have a rabid fan following and get routine lines longer than for some celebrity signings at comic con’s and the like. And now they’ll be offering Amiibo.
“Featuring compatibility with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors this year, amiibo figures are shaping up to be one of the year’s must-have holiday items,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Fans around the country already enjoy Loot Crate’s approach to delivering cool new items every month, and now they have a new and convenient way to get their hands on amiibo.”
“We are honored to be working with Nintendo – a company that our team loves and respects, and that many of us grew up with,” said Chris Davis, Loot Crate’s CEO. “The iconic Super Smash Bros. games have brought people together for years, and we’re excited to become a part of that story in a new way through our amiibo Subscription Service.”
Kicking things off will be a pre-selected lineup of Amiibo that the company says will save you a trip to the store. So far, Mario, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Fox and Yoshi have been announced as included in the Loot Crate promotion, and there’ll be another five announced before long. Nintendo and Loot Crate also say they’ve got a few little surprises in store for fans, and that this is set to be a limited time event. So if you’re thinking about signing up for the subscription, you might want to move on it sooner than later.
