This week’s Nintendo Download spotlights pre-orders

A smattering of new games in this week’s Nintendo Download, give the spotlight to Elden Ring and Metal Gear pre-orders.

Every once in a while, a Nintendo Download will go pretty lite on new game releases. And yes, this is one of those weeks. That’s kind of to be expected for mid-August, given the summertime’s well-worn history with game launches. Not that this year’s warmer months haven’t had some standouts, like Splatoon Raiders.

If we had to imagine though, it might be the last such week for a while. After all, we’re fast tumbling into the big fall release season. There are some big time games right on the horizon alright, including some from legendary properties. As luck would have it, it’s two of those that are right on the cusp of release, and both take the spotlight in this issue of the Download.

The games? Those would be ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition and Metal Gear Master Collection: Vol.2. Now, don’t get too excited, because neither is out now, but both are inbound for launch next week. The two titles are fairly big parts of this fall’s Nintendo lineup, and land on August 27th and 28th, respectively.

In the case of ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition, that’ll be a Switch 2 exclusive, while Metal Gear fans will be able to pick up a copy of Konami’s Metal Gear Master Collection: Vol.2 for either Switch or Switch 2. This week’s Nintendo Download casts the light on both games, reminding fans that they’re able to lock up a digital pre-order now, if they so desire.

  • ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition – Experience the award-winning action RPG set in an authentic dark fantasy world. Venture through the Lands Between, exploring treacherous dungeons and engaging in epic boss battles. ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition includes the base game and the SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE expansion, as well as new weapons, armor, a new Torrent appearance customization and more. ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2 system Aug. 28.   • METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol. 2 – Elude your enemies and enjoy infiltrating areas without being detected with the Metal Gear series, the pinnacle of “stealth action.” The second installment of the definitive Metal Gear Master Collection includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, launching for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on Aug. 27.   • Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC Event – Lagoon Dash – Make a splash in the newest monthly limited-time event in the Donkey Kong Bananza game’s DK Island & Emerald Rush paid DLC2!
