Fans who pre-order their copy of Activision and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be in to play a little early.
Heed the Call of Duty
Coming up fast is the next installment of the Call of Duty series. As you might know, that’ll be Modern Warfare 4, a title that’ll pick up from the ending of 2023’s third game in that set. As such, players can look forward to more of Price and Ghost, as well as a range of new characters.
In keeping with that theme, the first-person shooter will also feature a whole new theater of action. South Korea plays home to that, as it fends off an all-out assault from the North. Hang on though, because (obviously) that’s not all. Because along with all of the new campaign elements, there’s also the multiplayer.
Starring new modes, including the intriguing Kill Block, CoD’s multiplayer looks like it might be returning to form. From what we’ve seen in the previews, it does seem like Modern Warfare 4 will get back to gritty military action, offering less (none?) of the pop culture crossovers and flamboyant cosmetics that we’ve seen in recent times.
If so, and right now that’s a big “if”, then the recentering would be just what fans have been pining for.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives for the XBOX Series X|S, PS5, Switch 2, and PC on October 23rd, 2026. But as mentioned above, for those who pre-order, there’s a chance to play a shade early.
Early Warfare
Just revealed by Activision, the upcoming FPS will be offering an early access play-window, as goes its single-player campaign. No, those looking forward to getting into multiplayer won’t be able to dig in. But for those who are eager to play the campaign, well they might want to think about a pre-order.
Those who do just that will be able to play a full week early, on October 16th. That’s a pretty generous window, from what we’ve seen over the years. And feasibly, you could try to wrap up the campaign and be ready to blast away in the game’s multi, come the global release on the 23rd. Food for thought.
Before we go though, we have a reveal for you in the form of the Losing Ground mission from the that very campaign. In it, prospective players will get a look at all-out chaos, as a Korean squad attempts to survive a war that’s been thrust upon them.
