The reveal of Call of Duty leads the way for the Nintendo Download

It’s a big week for the Nintendo Download, but not for a game launch. Instead it’s spotlighting the Switch 2’s first Call of Duty.

Heed the Call of Duty on Switch 2

Now, to be fair, the just revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 won’t be the first CoD to appear on a Nintendo console. For those who don’t remember or weren’t around yet, there used to be games in the series appearing for the Wii/Wii U/DS.

Back in those days, it wasn’t unusual for higher-end games to get special editions for less powerful platforms. That idea faded away as the years went on though, and the Switch era didn’t present any such titles. At least, not that we can recall right now. But while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 won’t be a ‘first’ for the series, it’s still kind of a big deal. That’s because the upcoming first-person shooter, which saw reveal today, will be the first CoD for the Switch 2.

As such, Nintendo is spotlighting it in this week’s Nintendo Download. That’s not to say that there’s a pre-order just yet though. That’s coming later in the summer, so for now, the gaming giant just wants to draw fans’ attention to the news.

If it’s actual games that you’re looking for though, hang on, because there are a few notables. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of those, which comes to the Switch 2 on June 3rd. The retro-flavored Mina the Hollower also is set to appear, and that release will be for both consoles.

As usual too, there’s a smattering of additional titles arriving for the Switch 2, and a cavalcade of them landing for the original Switch. Scroll down to check ’em all out.

• Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 – The legendary series is making its return to a Nintendo platform with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2 system! This next installment pushes the action into darker and more dangerous missions, where consequence and escalation bring long-running storylines to a powerful and emotional breaking point. In Campaign, players will drop into a variety of engagements — from trench warfare in Korea to high-octane chases through Paris and close-quarters combat in New York.
