LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight spotlights Deluxe

Shining the spotlight on LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’s Deluxe Edition is Warner Bros Games, with this new trailer.

LEGO Batman returns

If you’re a Batman fan, or you just love the LEGO games from Warner Bros and TT Games, then you know all about LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight by now. The upcoming title looks like the culmination of the line, paying homage to the massive history of one of DC Comics’ biggest heroes.

Including the traditional LEGO flair, the game will meld various eras of Batman into one. Players will see the hero hopping from the 89 film, to the Dark Knight Trilogy, and beyond, all within one cohesive world. Not only that, but gameplay looks like it should be familiar to anyone who’s played the Arkham games. Add in a multitude of sidekicks, Bat-suits, and Batmobiles to unlock, and you have a game that’s mighty interesting indeed.

Now that we’re closing in on the launch date of May 22nd too, Warner Bros Games has unleashed a fresh trailer. This one is a little different than what’s come before, focusing on the Deluxe Edition of the game. And if you’re unaware, there look to be quite a few bonuses for those who pick it up.

Available in September, Deluxe Edition owners can play the upcoming Mayhem Mode featuring The Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters. Each of these DC Super-Villains will have their own abilities, gadgets, and takedowns as they break out of Arkham Asylum and cause chaos on the streets. Additionally, players will unlock a mayhem-themed pack of downloadable content (DLC) that includes new suits for the main game’s playable characters, new Batcave props, and a new Batmobile to traverse the open-world Gotham City.

Warner Bros Games press release

LEGO Dark Knight, but Deluxe

While the base version of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight already looks massive, that Deluxe Edition packs in even more. For one thing, there’s the launch itself. Those who buy the additional version of the game will be able to access play in just a few days, on May 19th. That’s a decent advance window, considering the mass-market May 22nd launch. Past that though, there are some in-game bonuses as well.

Warner Bros says that the Deluxe Edition will grant fans “new suits, vehicles, and Batcave props inspired by the Batman: Arkham videogame series, Batman Beyond television series, and a party music themed pack to let loose in Gotham City.” You saw a good chunk of those in the trailer above, as well as the villain-centric Mayhem Mode. That’ll be along this September, bringing both Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters.

As you might imagine, pre-orders are open now for both versions of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on all platforms. Launch will include Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC (via Epic and Steam), while the Switch 2 version will be along some time later this year.
