Godsmack is rocking and rolling, and has just released two new videos from Live at Mohegan Sun. And that’s just part of a massive 2026.
Godsmack rocks
A favorite from way back, Godsmack is rolling through a third decade of on-stage action. The hard-rocking group, composed of Shannon Larkin, Sully Erna, Robbie Merrill, and Tony Rombola, just kicked off a fresh tour yesterday, launching from Daytona Beach, Florida.
Before we get to that though, there’s a double-dose of videos to check out. And both of them hail from the group’s just-launched Live at Mohegan Sun album. That’s a live-recorded journey through Godsmack’s history, if you don’t know, including the Battle of the Drums. Rarely seen or heard outside of a live show, the feature started way back in the band’s early days of the mid-90s.
The idea is simple, setting up Erna and Larkin, each with their own set of drums. From there, it’s a head-to-head, as the bandmates rock out in a “full‑scale rhythmic duel”. Of course, things have evolved since then, bringing a massive pair of rigs to bear against one another. Those come complete with moving stages as well, so there’s a ton of visual flair included. While you obviously won’t get that on the actual album, that’s where the official video comes in.
That latest presentation of Battle of the Drums was filmed, as it appeared in the aforementioned live show. And if you want to check out the full scope of the happening, it’s pretty awesome. Check it out below.
Frontman Sully Erna calls the “Battle of the Drums”—a live spectacle perfected over decades—one of the night’s most meaningful moments. “It’s an intricate piece. Me and Shannon have worked on it for decades and really perfected it into a spectacle.” He continues, “Live at Mohegan Sun captures a moment we’ll always carry with us—the energy, the connection, and the gratitude we feel for the fans who’ve taken this journey with us. Releasing this album as we launch the Rise of Rock World Tour feels powerful. It honors where we’ve been while pushing us forward into what’s next.”

Legendary
While the above is all kinds of awesome for fans, especially longtime ones, it’s not all that was delivered. Right along with that, and also hailing from Live at Mohegan Sun, is a recorded performance of When Legends Rise. That track is pulled from the group’s 2018 album of the same name, and is also included on that Live from Mohegan Sun disc.
Rise of Rock
As mentioned, it isn’t just a pair of videos and a new album that Godsmack has fired off. Nope, along with all of that is the aforementioned tour as well, dubbed Rise of Rock World Tour 2026, which started yesterday. The US leg of that includes Stone Temple Pilots (for most dates) and Dorothy too, and fans can look for it to roll through July. But that’s just part of the itinerary. Rise of Rock is set to hit multiple countries over the summer, seeing the band head to Europe before launching another US leg to close things out.
The roster of cities that fans can expect the show to land in is massive too. It’s a catalog that includes the likes of Vegas, Austin, and Raleigh, before branching off to the likes of Belgrade, Athens, and Madrid this summer. And that’s not even covering the cities that Rise of Rock World Tour 2026 will hit once it starts that second run of US engagements.
That’ll begin when Erna and crew re-open US dates, and run right through the month of September. All in all, it’s looking like a massive year. Rise of Rock will conclude in a 2026 that’s being billed as “a touring year that promises to be one of the biggest of their career.”
