The recently released Resident Evil Requiem just got a brand new way to play. That comes via a mini-game that stealth-dropped yesterday.
Requiem for a Leon
So, first, it isn’t an expansion that landed yesterday for Resident Evil Requiem. But what Capcom did drop was pretty interesting nonetheless, with a new mode that should give the smash-hit horror game some legs, and keep fans playing.
Called Leon Must Die Forever, the oddly-named mode tasks players with surviving weaves of foes. It’s not exactly a horde mode, as those enemies are presented in various settings from throughout the game. So with that, it sounds like it’s more along the lines of playing through snippets from the main game.
It’s in those that players will see if they can withstand the enemy onslaught, and also beat the clock. Yep, this is a timed affair. Fortunately, fans will have some unlockable “enhancer abilities” to make use of.

“LEON MUST DIE FOREVER” is an extra game mode that is unlocked after players complete the main story and comes packed with the nonstop combat action that players know and love from legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy. Fight your way through areas you’ve visited previously throughout the game and defeat the final boss, all with stronger enemy variants, five increasingly difficulty ranks, and a race against the clock! Fill your enhancement gauge by defeating enemies in order to unlock Leon’s “enhancer abilities” exclusive to this game mode.

The order and progression of each area, plus options for Leon’s “enhancer abilities,” differ among each run, adding to increased replayability.
The Leon Must Die Forever mode is available now to add onto your base copy of Resident Evil Requiem.
Oh right, there’s an update too
While Leon Must Die Forever is snatching all the headlines, it’s actually part of a bigger update. Not that the rest of what’s being delivered is anywhere near as interesting, but it’s still worth talking about. Though maybe we shouldn’t say it’s that dull either, considering.
Before you ask though, yes, there are bug fixes aplenty. Capcom says that various fixes have been included, across platforms. Speaking of “platforms” though, there’s a genuine upgrade in this update that’s also in the mix for PC players. And that comes in the form of a new controller option.
Resident Evil Requiem for the PC will now sport full DualSense support. So with that, the PS5 controller’s “adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and motion sensor features” are all on the menu. Kind of a cool option, for those who prefer to play with Sony’s latest pad on their computers. And along with all the update fun, Capcom also has some merch news.
The first ever Resident Evil Amiibo are in with that. The Nintendo Switch collectibles are heading to stores soon, delivering both Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy on July 30th. Getting back to Leon Must Die Forever though, you bet there are some buyables hitting.
Available right now are “t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, sweatshirt, and hoodies”, all bearing the branding. Just a head’s up though, because while Capcom has shared this link with us, it looks like the Amazon-powered shop is Japan only for now. We’ll be staying tuned to see if these items drift Stateside.
