LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launching a week early

The latest game based on LEGO’s line of Batman sets is looking to land a little early. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight hits in May.

LEGO Batman can go without prep time

Well how’s this for a nice little surprise? It looks like LEGO and Batman fans who’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will indeed be getting their game a little early. That much was revealed just yesterday by Warner Bros. Games, and bumps the timetable up a week.

That translates to mean that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is landing for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 22nd. While that’s indeed a week in advance of the previously announced date, it’s also for the general release. The Deluxe Edition of the game is arriving even earlier, targeting a May 19th launch.

Prospective players who’ve yet to decide on the game can click here to check out the official site. Thinking about the Deluxe Edition? Click here to head to the game’s X page, and see what’s included. It’s also worth mentioning that pre-ordering the title will nab you a pretty cool extra.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight sounds like it’ll have no shortage of Bat-suits and Batmobiles to unlock. But even so, a pretty special one can be had by pre-ordering a copy of either version of the game. That would be the Dark Knight Returns Bat-suit, from the classic Frank Miller series.

One last note too, in that the game will also be heading to the Switch 2. That won’t be in May however, and as of this writing there’s no date set. Still, we’re not talking about it being years off, as you can expect it some time later in 2026.

Open world LEGO

Interesting to say the least, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight sounds like it might appeal to much more than LEGO fans. The game stars its own interpretation of the superhero’s legacy, working in multiple angles. From what we’ve sene so far, those include everything from the 1989 film to the Dark Knight Trilogy, and more.

It looks like all of that is being moulded into a cohesive narrative too. And while we haven’t played it yet, the trailers certainly have the action looking like a riff on the Batman: Arkham series of games. If accurate, that’d be one heck of a package.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is an all-new open world action-adventure videogame that invites players to embark on Bruce Wayne’s epic journey to become the hero of Gotham City, inspired by decades of Batman films, television shows, comic books, and games, combined with DC lore and TT Games’ signature brand of fun-filled LEGO humor.
