Taking fans on the ship’s original voyage in new ways is Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown. The title warps to full release today.
Star Trek: Voyager sets course for home
The final spinoff of Star Trek’s late 80s/90s boom, Star Trek: Voyager dared to present something altogether different. While it was set concurrently with The Next Generation and Deep Space 9, Voyager starred the crew of a ship lost in the cosmos.
That would be the title craft of course, which was accidentally cast into the Delta Quadrant. That put it not only far from home, but well beyond Federation space altogether. While that happening kicked things off, the breadth of the show would follow said ship as its crew made what was initially a slow return journey.
Along the way, they’d run into all new threats and allies, and introduce a cadre of original characters. That’s not even mentioning that they’d meet the Borg on their home turf, a theme that’d become a major one for the remainder of the show’s run. Not exactly a pleasure cruise.
While reenacting that trip is the premise of Gamexcite and publisher Daedalic’s strategy title though, it’s not restrictive to what you might’ve seen on TV. That’s to mean that players can change the outcomes of certain instances. So the characters and settings will be familiar, events might not be.
The title plays out in strategic form, tasking players with everything from crew management to course settings. Not that that’s all though, as there looks to be ship-to-ship combat as well. The Delta quadrant, after all, can be a dangerous place.
