Marvel announces Comics Giveaway Day offerings

A new day to get free comics? Marvel’s set to have Spider-Man, X-Men, and more all coming to shops for Comics Giveaway Day.

No, you’re not imagining things. This year will see a new freebie day for comics fans, dubbed Comics Giveaway Day. Put together by Penguin Random House, a longtime book publisher, the event land on May 2nd, 2026. And yes, it will see a collection of free comics hit participating stores.

We weren’t aware of this fresh happening, but if you’ve been paying attention to the industry over the last few years, it should ring familiar. After all, comics fans are already used to getting some free titles from time to time, so why not add one more? To get fans ready, Marvel Comics has released word on what they’ll have in store.

Fans can look for some big names to be included too. According to the press release, four titles will be in (again, participating) stores for the day. Fans can expect to see AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000/QUEEN IN BLACK #1 CGD 2026, ARMAGEDDON/X-MEN #1 CGD 2026, ALIEN, PREDATOR & PLANET OF THE APES #1 CGD 2026, and SPIDEY & HIS AMAZING FRIENDS #1 CGD.

The official rundowns

So Comics Giveaway Day will bring some big names, but also some looks at big stories. Mentioned above, Armageddon and Queen in Black will both be present for the event, though we have to admit we’re most interested in one of the additional offerings.

A title that includes Alien, Predator, and Planet of the Apes? No, it’s not a three-way crossover, but all the same, it sounds like a pretty nice smorgasbord of non-superhero stuff.
