The next Call of Duty is almost here. With that in mind, Black Ops 7 developer Treyarch is set to talk maps and more in a new video.
Mapping some fun
Is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 one of the most highly-anticipated titles in the series yet? We kind of think so, as it comes to consoles and PC in the midst of what’s been a kind of fan uprising. If you missed that online hubbub that kicked off some weeks ago, it mainly centered on the direction of the franchise.
Publisher Activision has been fairly attentive to the matter, as has the new game’s developer, Treyarch. Both parties have engaged with the fanbase on social media, with Treyarch talking about the series getting away from what it’d been originally. And of course, we take that to mean a military shooter.
Black Ops 7, which lands this fall, was basically finished by the time all of this erupted though. So whether or not it’ll be all that different from what you’ve seen before, we don’t know. We will say however, that from the just-dropped video on X, it sounds like the multiplayer should make fans happy.
The Dev Talk was hosted by Brittany Pirello and Matt Scronce, and addressed some queries sent in by players. Take a look in the player below.
Returning to the Black Ops universe
So did that video sway you any, if you’re a hardcore CoD player? The multiplayer is such a massive part of the Call of Duty experience, that it’s kind of a make or break for many. If you’re anything like us though, you’re equally as interested in the campaign. And on that note, we have to say we dig what we’ve seen.
While we’re partial to the last two installments’ versions of the 80s and 90s, Black Ops 7 takes the action back… to the future. Landing its first-person play in 2035, the sequel will send players to war against enemy humans, but also a robotic series of mechanical monstrosities. Oh, but that’s not all, as returning character David Mason and company will also be going a bit mad.
Did someone say ‘fear gas’? Well, no, but it’s in there anyway, and it looks to massively change the course of the campaign’s combat.
Ready for action? Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to debut on the Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on November 14th, 2025.
