The loaded Anniversary Update arrives for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II

Packed with a ton and a half of fresh content for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II, the Anniversary Update has landed.

One year in

Well, almost. It wasn’t exactly a year ago to the day, but Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II nonetheless saw release in September of 2024. So now that the game’s got a year in the dropship, what’s next? Well, the Anniversary Update and Season Pass II, that’s what.

The latter is the latest in paid downloadable content collection for the action title. As such, it serves up cosmetics for players’ in-game avatars. It’s the former though, that’s a bit more chunky. The Anniversary Update kicks off Year 2 in style, as it’s absolutely packed with free content.

From new foes, to a fresh operation, and even additional modes with Stratagem and Hellbrute Onslaught, there’s a ton included.

The Anniversary Update features:

  • New “Vortex” Operation, featuring a fearsome new boss, the Mutalith Vortex Beast
  • New PvP Arena – “Bridge” – set on Avarax
  • New PvE Game Mode  Stratagems” – introducing daily and weekly gameplay modifiers
  • New “Helbrute Onslaught” Game Mode for PvP, with a playable Helbrute!
  • Three New Weapons – the Pyreblaster, Pyrecannon and Power Axe – and several new weapon variants, like the Xenophase Blade, Combi Melta and double-edged Chainsword
  • New Majoris Enemy: the Chaos Spawn, coming in three unique variants
  • A set of six unique Chaos Champion skins, unlockable in Eternal War mode
  • Tons of quality-of-life and customization improvements, like the ability to use Champion skins as multiple, individual cosmetics with any of the game’s playable classes

Season Pass II’s first offering and some fresh deals

As we mentioned above, the update isn’t the only new thing that’s just landed for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II. Also launching today is the Season Pass II. That has its first offerings out there now, and ready for Black Templar and Imperial Fist fans to buy into.

Today’s Anniversary Update also comes with the release of Space Marine 2’s second Season Pass and its first two DLCs: the Black Templars Champion Pack and Imperial Fists Cosmetic Pack. The former includes a new Champion skin for the Bulwark class and Power Sword skin, while the latter adds over 40 new cosmetics and heraldry markings celebrating seven of the Imperial Fists’ Successor Chapters.

But hang on, because we’re not done yet. Along with all of that, there’s a deal to talk about. And it’s perfect for PC players who don’t have a copy of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II yet. The deal comes by way of a Focus Publisher Weekend on Steam, and sees the PC version of the game’s price slashed by a whopping 50%.

The sale price is also joined by the arrival of the new 2-Year Anniversary Edition. A fresh offering, this version includes the game and both of its season passes.

Take advantage of the Focus Publisher Weekend to grab the game at up to 50% off on Steam, or choose the brand-new 2-Year Anniversary Edition to receive the base game and both its Season Passes. The Gold Edition has been renamed the 1-Year Anniversary Edition and its contents remain the same, granting the base game and Season Pass 1. Finally, players can now acquire the Ultramarines Champion Pack separately, granting a salient Champion skin for the Heavy class and a unique Heavy Bolter skin celebrating the Imperium’s Indomitus Crusade.
