World War Z VR brings the horde to virtual reality for the first time

Get ready to face… a lot of zombies. World War Z VR is bringing Saber Interactive’s series to headsets for the first time.

Watch your… actually just watch everywhere

Running for a while now, is Saber Interactive’s World War Z series. The first-person shooters have brought the film’s vision of the zombie apocalypse to life for PC and consoles, but has now made its way to a brand new format. Of course, that’d be virtual reality.

Just debuting on Meta Quest and Steam VR today is World War Z VR, a game that looks to serve up a heaping helping of the undead. How heaping? Well, how does up to 200 zombies at a time sound? Yeah, that’s just how many foes World War Z VR can throw at players in any given circumstance, as they make their way across New York, Tokyo, and Marseille.

Said players will have their choice of seven playable operatives to tackle the hordes of rotters with, but they won’t be alone. World War Z VR will grant AI-controlled squads to players as well. And those can only be a good thing, given the size of the opposing force.

World War Z VR brings the hit franchise’s nonstop thrills and iconic swarm action to life like never before for VR fans and newcomers alike. Choose between seven playable heroes featuring a variety of customization options to fit any playstyle, and try to survive gruesome challenges against the undead across three unique locations: New York, Tokyo and Marseille.

Saber Interactive press release

Ready for war? World War Z VR is out now for Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and SteamVR headsets. If you’re buying on Steam too, you have an extra option, with a special bundle pack. In that, fans can get both World War Z VR and the original World War Z, for a cool 20% off the total price.
