Evo ’25: Bandai Namco details the newest Tekken 8 addition, Armor King, plus a first look at Miary Zo

Two upcoming Tekken 8 fighters were shown off at Evo 2025 this past weekend, with the returning Armor King, and the new Miary Zo.

Was that a stunner!?

You’ll see what we mean by that subheading when you watch the trailer below, which indeed does showcase another wrestling-focused addition to Tekken 8. Of course, Armor King isn’t exactly a new character, since he’s been around right from Tekken’s beginnings. Nevertheless though, it’s great to see King’s arch-nemesis back in the ring for what’ll be the game’s autumn downloadable content drop.

Longtime fans will instantly recognize him in all his glory, even with the new duds and fresh repertoire of strikes and grappling moves. He’s looking particularly vicious too, even smashing his rival through a table. And if you’re a wrestling fan, you know that’s almost as brutal as it can get.

Thirsting for revenge, the jet-black villain Armor King returns to the TEKKEN ring. The “Dark Supernova” now sports a fiery mane, and as showcased in the trailer, brings back his arsenal of explosive moves and devastating combos. His addition to TEKKEN 8 grows the game’s roster to 39 fighters. See the full roster and learn about the legendary characters in the game on the official TEKKEN 8 roster breakdown.

Bandai Namco press release

While Armor King was the centerpiece of the Tekken 8 reveals at Evo, there was a tease to follow up. As you can see at the close of the above, that would be Miary Zo. Not a returning Tekken-ite, Miary is a wholly new character, who hails from the wild isle of Madagascar.

We don’t know a heck of a lot about her just yet, and that’s the way it’s going to stay until some time down the line. Bandai Namco says that more will be revealed about her spot in this season of Tekken 8’s DLC in “the coming months”. She’s scheduled to arrive some time this winter.

Getting back to Armor King though, fans will be able to buy and add him to their games starting on October 16th. That’s for the general release, and Season 2 Character & Stage Pass and Season 2 Character Pass holders will get to play as him beginning a few days in advance, on October 13th.
