Dying Light: The Beast invites you to Castor Woods for some fun, frolic, and zombies

Castor Woods isn’t what it used to be. Sure it’s still got beautiful vistas, but Dying Light: the Beast‘s locale is also quite… undead.

Hey Bober!

Meet Bober the Beaver, the mascot of Castor Woods. He’s a jolly critter who’s out to let prospective players know that there’s no better time than can be had in his home forest, even with zombies roaming about, just about everywhere.

Castor Woods serves as the backdrop for Techland’s upcoming sequel, Dying Light: The Beast, of course. It’s a place of great natural beauty that’s been as overrun by the zombie plague as the rest of the world. But even in the midst of the apocalypse, it’s not without its own life. The native beaver population has run wild without mankind around, and has changed the course of a river, flooding parts of the landscape.

At least, that’s the idea that Techland came up with, when figuring out how best to describe the flooded parts of the Woods. Beavers became a big part of local culture as well, in the fictional town associated with Castor Woods, so much so that the team has integrated imagery into quite a few places.

So it’s only fitting then, that old Bober does the honors and invites you to a little rest and relaxation in the great outdoors. (Just mind the zombies.)

Right now, vacation season’s in full swing, and you’re probably thinkin’, “Oh man, it’s so hot now, and it’s been so long since I had some time off. I wish I was relaxing somewhere nice, with fresh air, luscious nature… and maybe even a cool beaver nearby.” Well, we’ve got all that and more! I know, I know… you need convincing. So here’s a brand new commercial that I filmed, all by myself!

Techland press release

You see? Castor Woods isn’t just a destination, it’s the vacation of a LIFETIME. Yes, this place has its…charm. It’s full of surprises with a lot to discover, and a few secrets just under the surface to keep things exciting!

But, you might be curious about what kind of connection beavers have with “Castor Woods”. Well, let me tell you, it’s right in the name! Did you know that “Castor” is actually the scientific name for beaver? That’s right! Castor Woods literally means “Beaver Woods,” and you’ll quickly see why when you visit! A small hint: beavers once saved the valley from a great flood by building a huge dam, and ever since then, they’ve become an official symbol of the region.

As for myself, I’m Castor Woods’ favorite mascot and it’s my absolute passion to make sure every single visitor receives a warm welcome and feels right at home. I truly love this place, and I will personally make sure your trip will be the best it can be!

So, what are you waiting for? Your next great adventure is just a click away! Castor Woods promises an experience you definitely won’t forget.

Now, there’s just one question:

Are you ready to join me August 22 for the beast summer ever?!

Warmly,
Bober the Beaver
