Marvel’s half of the upcoming inter-company crossover won’t just feature Deadpool and Batman, as it’ll be loaded with backup stories too.
Team-up time
Still something of an unreality, but nonetheless very much on the way, are a pair of comics that will team Deadpool and Batman up for some villain smashing action. One book will be coming from Marvel and one from DC as a part of this fall’s event, but apparently those heroes won’t be the sole representatives from their respective publishers.
Marvel revealed as much today, taking the wraps off of a set of additional tales that’ll be included in Deadpool/Batman #1 as backup stories. We’re not sure how long these additional pairings will be, but they sounds pretty great, not to mention unexpected. Though, according to Marvel, that was intentional.
Oh, just a note too, because Marvel lists Daredevil/Green Lantern as one of the crossovers on the way, but the ‘cover’ image pretty clearly has DD teaming with Green Arrow. Honestly too, that might be our favorite of the bunch, even over the title-teaming.

The main story starring Deadpool and Batman will be written by Zeb Wells and drawn by industry superstar Greg Capullo. The one-shot will also feature additional backup stories spotlighting other exciting Marvel and DC team-ups from a lineup of all-star talent, including Daredevil and Green Lantern by Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert, Captain America and Wonder Woman by Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson, and Jeff the Land Shark and Krypto by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru. Each story will be reflected by its own variant cover. Today, fans can check out the Daredevil/Green Lantern Cover by acclaimed Daredevil artist Marco Checchetto and the Jeff the Land Shark/Krypto cover by Gurihiru. Plus, feast your eyes on an epic wraparound variant cover by Capullo.
“We’re going to all corners of the Marvel and DC Universes, and the creators are having an absolute blast finding the unexpected and unexplored connections between these characters,” Editor Mark Basso shared. “We can’t wait for the fans to experience the same jaw-dropping moments we are! And we’ve got some more secret stories in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for more to be revealed!”
“This has been surreal to say the least!” Zdarsky said. “Captain America and Wonder Woman are the best their worlds have to offer, both warriors for peace. Getting to explore a dynamic and history between them has been genuinely exciting.”
“Two ICONS meeting for the first time!” Thompson said. “It’s such an honor for Jeff to get to be Marvel’s ambassador in this crossover story with Krypto. Anyone who loves comics knows how rare it is for DC and Marvel to crossover, so Jeff getting to be part of this historic moment with Krypto, and Gurihiru and I getting to bring that tale to readers… well, sometimes this job is very cool.”
