New DOOM: The Dark Ages trailer delves into a tale of Maykrs and demons

Bethesda and ID Software share quite bit more about DOOM: The Dark Ages‘ storyline, and the Slayer himself, in a fresh trailer.

Stand and Fight

When players fire up DOOM: The Dark Ages, it’s certainly looking like they’re going to be in for one of the most story-centric DOOM titles of all time. And if you leave the basically standalone DOOM 3 out of the equation, that seems to be even more the case. Even DOOM Eternal looks like it’s not gonna have anything on The Dark Ages, as fans of the legendary FPS franchise get to see just what made the Slayer, the Slayer.

We got a fair shake more about what that narrative will entail yesterday at Wrestlemania 41, by way of a new trailer. In it we see some great new footage of the Slayer in action, and also learn more about what’s essentially his enslavement to the Maykrs. It’s not all Slayer-centric though, as the Sentinels’ original wars against hell, and a few key non-player characters also factor into the video.

The latest trailer for DOOM™: The Dark Ages from id Software premiered during WrestleMania 41 yesterday, offering a glimpse of the DOOM Slayer’s epic, cinematic story. As the superweapon of gods and kings, the DOOM Slayer will stand and fight against the legions of Hell with a new arsenal of brutal weapons of mass destruction.

Bethesda press release

DOOM: The Dark Ages is on the way for the Xbox Series X|S, PS5 (and PS5 Pro), PC, and Battle.net this May the 15th. Naturally, since it’s a Bethesda title, you can also expect to see it listed on Game Pass as of day one of the general release. Of course, if you want to play before that launch date, you can get a two day jumpstart by buying the Premium Edition.

Along with the ‘early access’ period, DOOM: The Dark Ages‘ Premium Edition also includes “the Digital Artbook and Soundtrack, the Divinity Skin Pack, and access to the campaign DLC coming at a later date”.
