Activision is finally picking up the thread left by the remakes from a few years ago, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is coming up fast.
The ace of spades
It was back in the infamous year of 2020 that Activision delivered a late-summer gem for game fans. That came in the form of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, a package that mashed together a full remake of the original Tony Hawk titles from the PS1 days, but with all the modern niceties. Not only did the included content carry over all the fun of the originals, but it actually added to it with updated gameplay (from subsequent titles) and modern skaters. Oh yeah, and it looked freaking great too.
Well, if you’ve been waiting for the remakes of the third and fourth games that everybody just assumed would be incoming, your day has finally arrived. The new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 was revealed just today, hailing from Iron Galaxy Studios and “in collaboration with Tony Hawk and Activision”, and it’s looking just as great as we hoped.
The legend returns on July 11 with the launch of Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 3 + 4! Remade from the ground up and ready to rip this summer, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 blends the classic content that fans loved in the 2000s with new offerings, including new skaters, gnarlier tricks, an even sicker soundtrack, and, for the first time in 10 years – brand-new parks!
Activision press release
Along with all you see above, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is also bringing cross-platform online multiplayer with it. We’re not just talking a skate for two either, as the game will support up to eight players. How’s that for cool?
You won’t have to wait long either, because as mentioned, the games release isn’t far off. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is arriving this July the 11th, and fans will be able to grab a copy for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC (via Steam, Battle.net and Microsoft Store). As you might imagine, pre-orders are open right now.
If you do pre-order a copy, you’ll be in for some bonuses too. Reserving any version except the Switch edition will get you access to the Foundry Demo, opening up in June, and the “Wireframe Tony Shader” when the game launches. We’re guessing that’s because the Switch won’t be getting in on the demo, but we don’t know that for sure.
One last note too, because those that subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass are already ready to roll. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 will be a day one addition for both tiers of Microsoft’s service.
