Youngblood is back. The original series that helped kick off Image Comics is returning with a series of remastered issues.
The blood is back
While it’s not a reboot, soft or otherwise, fans of one of Rob Liefeld’s marquee creations should be happy to see Youngblood once again in the racks. The series, easily one of the big guns that made up Image Comics’ original 90s lineup, is being brought back by way of a series of remasters.
Dubbed Youngblood Deluxe, the new series will re-present the original issues of the title’s run, but with some major alterations. Starting with the 1992 issue that started it all, Youngblood #1, fans can expect to see each installment “re-scripted, re-colored, re-lettered, and remastered”. If you’re anything like us, you’re wondering what “re-scripted” exactly means.
It isn’t all that clear from the press release, but we’re imaging that it might imply that the 2025 versions of the title’s stories will actually be re-written. That’d be quite an interesting choice, if it’s the case, and could differentiate the “Deluxe” run significantly from the book’s origins.
“This is the ultimate way to experience Youngblood,” said Liefeld. “These characters mean so much to me and to revisit them like this is the absolute best way to read the comic that literally started the revolution and transformed the industry!”
Image Comics press release
Youngblood Deluxe #1 will bring 40 pages of action, featuring the likes of Badrock, Shaft, Die-Hard, and many more. The publisher says that the new run will be the “definitive way to experience the groundbreaking series that helped usher in the Image Revolution and a must-have for any comic fan.”
Look for Youngblood Deluxe #1 to hit stores on April 16th, 2025.
