For just how long, we don’t know, but creator Todd McFarlane is back in the writing chair for Spawn, starting with issue #360.
Undead rising
Comics are overflowing with bloodsuckers as of late, and a vampiric wave has swept over Spawn’s universe as well. In fact, as of Spawn #360, they’ve kinda already taken control and scored a decisive victory. The vamps have beaten the title hero, and even though he’s gotten his powers back, it sounds like he’s in for a world of hurt.
That continuing battle will spin out of the mind of the character’s creator too, as the legendary Todd McFarlane is back in the saddle for Spawn’s premier book. That’s not to say that he’ll be penciling the interiors, as he’ll accompanied by the talented Brett Booth, but he will be writing that above storyline.
If you’re a longtime fan of the character and McFarlane, that should be enough to get you sufficiently psyched.
Next year, Todd McFarlane Productions’ landmark Spawn #360 issue will see the return of Todd McFarlane to writing duties on the iconic series and reunite him with superstar artist Brett Booth.
This highly anticipated issue launches readers into a bold new chapter of the Spawn Universe as Spawn’s powers are restored, the Dead Zones are thrown open, and new threats emerge. In Spawn #360, Bludd has triumphed, Spawn has been defeated, and the Vampire Kingdom has ascended. As the world reels from these seismic events, the stage is set for a stunning new direction in the bestselling series that continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Known for his electrifying artwork, Booth brings McFarlane’s vision to life with dynamic illustrations that leap off the page.
Image Comics press release
Spawn #360 will sport a quartet of covers, including a 1:50 virgin variant from Booth, pulling the trade dress off of his more commonly available “Cover C”. All of ’em are pretty slick as far as we’re concerned though, and we’re stoked to see McFarlane back, crafting the action for Al Simmons.
If you are too, watch for Spawn #360, landing on the racks on January 1st, 2025. Talk about kicking off the New Year in style.
