Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition is getting a physical edition this January

Kicking off 2025 is the return of the Darksiders series to retail, with THQ Nordic‘s Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition.

Death lives

If you missed the news from a few weeks ago, THQ Nordic has reanimated Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition for modern consoles, and it comes complete with all the trimmings. The new edition, which is out right now, brings 4K resolution, ray tracing, improved load times, and integration of the DualSense’s haptic feedback (exclusively on PS5, natch’) to the game.

While all that’s great, physical library-builders were left out in the cold, since the game’s October release was limited to digital only. As you can see above however, that won’t be the case for long. Today publisher THQ Nordic revealed that the revamp is indeed getting boxed, and it’ll be in stores to lead off 2025 for the company.

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition is set to debut in stores on January 28th, 2025. Fans can look for those boxed copies to hit then, and include releases for both the Xbox Series X|S and PS5. While we’re talking about the game in general too though, it’s definitely worth mentioning that if you have a digital copy of the game for the PS4, then you can grab the PS5’s upgraded version (digitally) for free. Always cool to see.

Oh, and finally, this is decidedly not the only Darksiders game in the works. If you didn’t know, a new title in the series was revealed this past summer, though no details were announced and we haven’t seen anything from it just yet. So stay tuned for much more on that in the new year too.
