Death is back, and seasonably appropriate too, with Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition Remastered on Xbox Series and PS5.
Behold
Another part of the splintered narrative that makes up the Darksiders universe, Darksiders II follows the pale Horseman Death as he makes his way through the apocalypse. As fans well know, that’s an end of the world scenario that never should have been, and the Horsemen have been essentially framed for ushering in an early end of days.
Announced for the current generation of consoles only a few weeks ago, Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition Remastered has officially brought that adventure to a new era, and is out now for both the Xbox Series X|S and PS5. As the name would dictate, this isn’t a new game in the series, but a modernizing of the 2012 original.
Actually, you could probably say it’s more accurately a further modernizing of the 2015 re-release, since that was the first “Deathinitive Edition” of the original. As you’ll see in the trailer below too, that game’s a fair shake prettier now.
Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition Remastered includes all of the original game’s DLC, with all of it incorporated right into the experience. That equals up to be about 30 hours of total play time, and comes complete with reworked and “tuned game balancing and loot distribution”, as well as those improved and “reworked level, character and environment graphics”, according to publisher THQ Nordic.
The whole thing is also enhanced by 4K visuals and ray tracing, as well as Haptic feedback for those playing with a DualSense on the PS5, and improved loading times. With all of that, this new version definitely sounds “Deathinitive”, so if you’ve yet to play any version of the modern-classic, now would appear to be the time.
Things are not even close to being done for Darksiders as a series though, as THQ Nordic announced a new game would be coming up in the future. Just when that might be is anyone’s guess right now, but we’ll keep you updated.
