Solve the mysteries of the deep with Thalassa Edge of the Abyss

Touted as a “psychological mystery of self-discovery”, Thalassa Edge of the Abyss bubbles up on Steam this June.

No combat, but plenty creepy

Thalassa Edge of the Abyss is looking like a game that should hit the mark for those who love a mystery. The title slots players in as a deep sea diver named Cam, who’s out to explore a wreck on the ocean’s floor that was once dubbed the Thalassa. But Cam is no alien to the sunken ship in question, as this adventurer was once a member of the crew.

Watching the trailer, it’s kind of impossible not to pick up some Bioshock vibes, but don’t be confused. The two games couldn’t be more different, as Thalassa Edge of the Abyss is very much not a title where you’re going to find villains to fight.

Instead it centers on unraveling the lost ship’s secrets, which will take brain-power instead of high-powered weaponry.

Following the journey of Cam, a deep-sea diver and member of the Thalassa’s crew, players will undertake an expedition to the final resting place of the Thalassa, Cam’s old ship, which now lays shipwrecked and abandoned on the sea floor. To get the answers Cam so desperately seeks, players must explore the wreckage, pick through clues left by Cam’s old crew, and piece together the events, ultimately uncovering the truth behind Thalassa’s untimely end.

Team17 Digital press release

Ready to take the plunge? Well, if so, you won’t have to wait too long to get submerged in this one. Developer Sarepta Studio has just revealed that it’s signed a deal with publisher Team17 Digital to bring Thalassa Edge of the Abyss to PC players, via Steam. Would-be fans can look for it to arrive this summer, on June 18th, 2024.
