Get ready to rip into your foes (literally) in Ripout, as the FPS hits Early Access

Landing just in time for a little Halloween run-through, horror/FPS Ripout is finally available in Early Access form.

Have Pet Gun, will rip (and tear?)

If you’re looking for a horror first-person shooter that’s got some unique hooks to it, then you might want to have a peek at Ripout. From iconic publisher 3D Realms and Pet Project Games, the game has just arrived in Early Access and is set to offer players the ability to rend and splice its hideous cadre of beasts.

Ripout grants that ability by way of the Pet Gun, a living weapon that’s in the hands of players. Utilizing advanced biotech, those plunging into the depths of the game’s “quick, action-packed” and procedurally generated” levels will be able to actually slice weaponry off of their mutated foes, and graft it onto their own armor.

Gruesome? Yes… but also a pretty great time.

Face off against mutant monstrosities transformed by Cell, a human-made biological weapon that has turned its sights on its creators, able to adapt their bodies in grotesque ways. Use your trusty biomechanical Pet Gun to gain a tactical advantage over your enemies by ripping weaponry off them while exploring procedurally generated derelict spaceships, collecting loot, and customizing your character to survive whatever dangers lurk around the corner.

3D Realms press release

Though Ripout’s action is geared towards co-op play (of teams up to 3 players), it’s also fully scalable. So if you do decide to dig into its action solo or without a full squad, you should its difficulty works to match how many players are included in a session.

With the game now in Early Access on the PC, there’s also a discount to grab, should you want to buy in now. And at 10% off the tagged price of $24.99 USD, it could be just the ticket for those looking for a little Halloween fun ‘n’ gore.
