Prepare for moon-fall with the first look at Atari’s Lunar Lander Beyond

A classic returns as Atari showcases Lunar Lander Beyond, with a first-look and a fresh demo as a part of Steam’s Next Fest.

The eagle has landed

Continuing its series of updates to iconic titles from the origins of video gaming is Atari. Lunar Lander Beyond is obviously an updating to Lunar Lander, which originally hit arcades in 1979, and brought space-based action to fans. But while that game was almost a straight simulation, the new Lunar Lander Beyond is much more of a story-based, almost action title.

While it doesn’t look like players will be doing any attacking, they’ll do plenty of defending and trying to survive a wild world that takes them far beyond Luna’s surface.

In Lunar Lander Beyond, assume the role of the captain of the Pegasus Corporation flight crew. Guide a crew of intrepid explorers, advisors, and state-of-the-art landers through a series of demanding missions. Soar through the cosmos delivering crucial cargo, extracting valuable resources, and conducting daring rescues across a celestial tapestry of enigmatic moons and captivating planets. When mysterious portals appear, you’ll find yourself on a collision course with sinister truths that lie unseen behind the fabric of the universe’s curtain.

Atari press release

You’ll be able to delve into the unknown some time soon with Lunar Lander Beyond, as it makes its way to consoles and the PC. If you’d like a taste of the action ahead of time though, then you’re in luck. Atari has revealed that the cosmic adventure is a part of the now-ongoing Steam Next Fest, and that means there’s a free demo to grab/play.

Just be quick about it if you want in, because the demo is only available from today through October 16th, 2023.
