Bethesda’s long-awaited space epic, Starfield is finally here. That’s to say, if you have Early Access to the game via pre-order.
The journey begins
Officially, Starfield doesn’t launch until September 6th, 2023. But for those who pre-ordered a copy of the game’s Premium Edition, today’s the day. That special version of the title grants access to the complete adventure a few days ahead of everyone else, starting September 1st.
Starfield is the first all-new universe from the publisher in a quarter-century, and presents something very different for fans. While the name “Bethesda” is usually known for fantasy and post-apocalyptic themes, Starfield is hard sci-fi. The action-RPG takes players on a ride through the galaxy, complete with a huge collection of worlds to visit and series of activities to undertake. Bethesda calls it “unparalleled freedom”, and it does seem as close to that as you can get.

If you have yet to take the plunge, but you’re digging what those videos show off, then you still have time to play early. Bethesda notes that those who pre-order the aforementioned Premium Edition of Starfield before the Early Access period ends, will still be able to partake. It won’t be the full “Early Access” time-allotment, but still. Also according to the company, fans should keep in mind that the above is “dependent on purchase date and subject to possible outages and applicable time zone differences”.
Worth noting too though, is that composer Inon Zur’s collaboration on Starfield’s soundtrack is out today as well. It’s streaming now via “Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and other streaming services”. Bethesda goes on to say that the music “embodies the notion of exploration, mystery and the wonder of space.” If you’re enjoying the game, or just holding on til the base edition releases for the Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6th, you might want to give it a listen.
